Russia sees no signals of Ukraine’s intent to break gas deal

YALTA, Crimea, Jan 10 (PRIME) -- The Russian government sees no signals that Ukraine has any plans to violate the agreements on natural gas transit, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak told reporters on Friday.

“I hope that the contracts which have been signed will be fulfilled… We do not see any signals so far that there is an intent to forego the fulfillment of these agreements,” Kozak said.

He said that a decision of Ukrainian energy holding Naftogaz Ukrainy to resubmit a case on the loss of assets in Crimea is unrelated to the Russia–Ukraine gas agreement.

Russia and Ukraine signed a package gas deal on December 30, including a 5-year transit contract. Gazprom guarantees shipment of 65 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas in 2020 and 40 bcm each following year.
